Stamps Health Services

Located in a state-of-the-art, 35,000-square-foot facility in the Joseph Brown Whitehead Building, Stamps Health Services is an outpatient ambulatory center that provides healthcare and health education to eligible students and their spouses or domestic partners. Stamps Health Services is located at 740 Ferst Drive, next to the Campus Recreation Center (CRC).

Services are provided in five areas: Primary Care, Women’s Health, Psychiatry, Health Promotion, and support services of Pharmacy, Laboratory, and Radiology. Standard business hours are from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday and on Thursday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Summer hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Stamps Health Services is closed Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Appointments

Appointments are required in Primary Care, Women’s Health, and Psychiatry. Appointments are not required for Health Promotion.

Patients should arrive fifteen minutes prior to their appointment for administrative check-in. Individuals arriving at Stamps Health Services requesting care without an appointment will be assessed by a registered nurse. Based upon the clinical outcome of the RN assessment, individual will receive appropriate and timely care, which may include one or more of the following options:

  • Health education and self-care
  • Future scheduled return appointment with a physician
  • Physician evaluation and treatment if medically necessary

Walk-in service is designed for urgent care. Students with the most serious conditions will be given priority. Wait times may vary.

Confidentiality

Stamps Health Services maintains complete patient/provider confidentiality and is HIPAA compliant. All medical information concerning a patient will be kept confidential. If the patient is eighteen years old or older, a signed consent form from the patient is required in order to release information. If the patient is not yet eighteen years old, a signed consent form from the patient’s legal guardian is required.

Eligibility and Cost

Services are only for currently enrolled students, co-op students, and spouses/domestic partners of enrolled students who have paid the student health fee for the current semester. (A spouse or domestic partner is only eligible if the student and spouse/domestic partner have both paid their health fees.) The health fee is automatically assessed to a student’s account along with tuition expenses if he or she is taking four credit hours or more. If a student is taking fewer than four credit hours or is enrolled in the co-op program, the student and spouse/domestic partner may opt to pay the health fee and use all health services.

The health fee covers:

  • Unlimited visits with a primary care physician or registered nurse
  • Basic radiological studies
  • Some prescriptions and laboratory tests
  • Basic medical supplies
  • Flu shots
  • Blood pressure and health screening

Additional services (available at a low cost) include:

  • Allergy injections
  • Chronic or special-order prescriptions
  • Gynecology specialty clinic
  • Certain lab tests
  • Nutrition clinic
  • Birth control
  • Dermatology medications
  • Immunizations

Immunizations

Each student is responsible for submitting their immunization records to Stamps Health Services. Additional information can be found at the Immunization Requirements page.

Medical Requirements for Admission/Registration

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia requires that all students entering Georgia Tech meet certain immunization requirements. The requirement for tuberculosis screening must also be fulfilled. In addition, all entering students must complete and return a medical entrance form prior to registration. Registration for classes will not be permitted until these requirements have been met.

Psychiatry

The Psychiatry Clinic, on the second floor of the Stamps Health Services Building, provides general psychiatric services to eligible students, spouses, and domestic partners. Two hours of service per semester are covered by the student health fee. Fees apply for additional hours of care.

Women’s Health

The Women’s Clinic provides a variety of services such as gynecological exams, birth control, and STI (sexually transmitted infection) counseling and treatment. Appointments are required. Care is provided by our board-certified OB/GYN and certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurses. Exams are usually covered by the student health fee. There may be a small charge for some laboratory tests.

Wellness Empowerment Center

The Wellness Empowerment Center cultivates a thriving environment that enhances lifelong well-being among students and employees who live, learn, and work in the Georgia Tech community. The department influences and empowers the campus community to practice healthy lifestyle behaviors by providing inclusive and innovative prevention-based programs, individual and group support services, and co-curricular learning experiences through strategic collaboration.

The Center's programs include VOICE which provides confidential services to students impacted by sexual harassment, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and/or stalking, health education, and nutrition and body image services.

Center for Mental Health and Resources

The Center for Mental Health Care & Resources educates students for life by providing a variety of services and programs that are consistent and consonant with the strategic plan goals of the Institution and the Division of Student Engagement & Well-Being.

Services include testing and assessment, referral to support services, short-term individual counseling, group counseling, couples counseling, crisis intervention, as well as mental health workshops, and consultation for faculty and staff, family and friends of Tech students.

The Center for Mental Health Care & Resources provides brief or short-term therapy for a variety of presenting issues. Concerns that require on-going or long-term treatment are best served through referral to one of the many qualified community providers we have in the nearby Atlanta community.
